This trend started in November 2020, when Lauren Wolfe released a video with the label "tiktokleggings". This video is now viewed on TikTok by more than 2.5 million users, with more than 272 million views, and "amazonleggings" has 175 million views. More than 10,000 users have posted pictures with these tags on Instagram.

In the past 30 days, "tiktok leggings" is one of the 100 most searched terms on Amazon. It has been ranked in the Top 50 for several days, and reached the peak of popularity in the last week of February. Due to TikTok's restrictions, videos shared by users cannot be linked to specific products. Instead, after seeing a video on TikTok, users search for the product on Amazon.
